Yes, the rumors are true—UCA is preparing for a change in our learning management system platform. The Teaching with Technology Advisory Committee is currently conducting a comprehensive evaluation to help determine the most effective platform to support our teaching and learning needs.
In an effort to inform the university about this process, CETAL has established a dedicated website with resources to keep you informed throughout the process. The review is examining three platforms: Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, and Brightspace.
The LMS review website includes:
– Detailed information about key features of each LMS under consideration
– Frequently Asked Questions addressing common concerns
– A complete timeline of the review and decision-making process
– Feedback forms to share past or current experiences with any of these platforms
> Try the Systems Yourself
We strongly encourage faculty participation in this review process. You can request a sandbox to personally explore and test any of the LMS platforms under consideration. These hands-on experiences will allow you to evaluate how each system might work for your specific teaching needs and empower you to provide more informed feedback.
> Next Steps
We encourage all faculty to visit the LMS Review website to learn more about the LMS platforms being considered, request sandbox access, and provide feedback through the available forms. Your input is valuable to this process, and there will be multiple opportunities for engagement in the coming weeks. The feedback window for faculty and staff is open from now until the end of April.
> Questions?
If you have questions not addressed on the website, please contact Amy Hawkins in CETAL and any TTAC representative using information found on the LMS review website.
Thank you for your engagement in this important process as we work to enhance our digital learning environment!
