Dr. Celebi, Professor and Chair of Computer Science and Engineering, is among the most influential researchers in the world, according to a 2024 study from Stanford University. The study examines citation data from the Scopus database and ranks researchers based on the composite citation index, an indicator of citation impact. In the single-year impact (2023) and career-long impact categories, Dr. Celebi ranked 658 and 932, respectively, out of about 400,000 Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing researchers, placing him in the top 0.16% and 0.23%, respectively.
