The Arkansas Horn Club, celebrating its 25th year, will present “A Saint Hubert Celebration” on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 5:00 pm, in the Recital Hall of Snow Fine Arts Center at University of Central Arkansas. Horn Ensemble works on this concert include such composers as Rossini, Stiegler, Cheetham, and Weber. Arkansas Horn Club director and UCA Horn Professor Brent Shires will conduct, and also play a solo work “Alla Caccia” by Alan Abbott, with Terrie Shires at the piano; UCA graduate student Brian Wyatt will guest conduct. Saint Hubert is venerated as the patron saint of the hunt, and in many European cities masses and concerts are performed that include groups of French horns and hunting horns. The Arkansas Horn Club is a community-focused group, open to French horn players of all ages. Admission to the concert is free of charge; for more information about this event, or about the Arkansas Horn Club, contact founder and director Dr. Brent Shires at bshires@uca.edu / 501-450-5768.
