DEADLINE FOR STUDENT POETRY CONTEXT APPROACHING

The deadline for entries into the second annual student poetry contest, sponsored by SLANT and Vortex, is February 15.

The contest is open to all UCA undergraduate students, regardless of major.

For entry guidelines, contact Michael Blanchard, Adjunct Professor in the UCA School of Language & Literature and editor of SLANT, at mblanchard@uca.edu.

SLANT is the School of Language & Literature’s creative journal of contemporary poetry, and Vortex is the award-winning UCA student literary and arts magazine.

OARS Seminar: Blind and Low Vision Students

Presenters Doris Pierce, OARS Director and Lucas Harder, Model Policy Service Director for the Arkansas School Boards Association will provide session attendees with information on impact of disability for this student population and how service provision (accommodations and accessibility) and knowledge of the social model of disability eliminates barriers to access for this student
population. Examples of Braille, enlarged fort format and assistive technology will be shared with attendees. TBA: lived experience of a blind student (now alumnus) in higher education.
