Dr. Rosenow is an award-winning author and teacher who joined the faculty at UCA in 2008 after earning a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
His dissertation won the Herbert G. Gutman Prize and was the basis for his book, Death and Dying in the Working Class, 1865-1920. He has since pursued research projects that have produced scholarly articles that reflect his intellectual interests in labor history and economic development, working-class culture, and social movements. He has also won the Best Presentation award from the Arkansas Association of College History Teachers.
Rosenow’s course offerings focus on United States history with topics such as the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, labor and working-class history, US immigration, and diplomatic history. He also regularly teaches methods courses required for History majors and anyone interested in learning more about how to research, write, and communicate about the past. He was the recipient of the university’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2025.
When not engaged in the historian’s craft, he is probably hiking a trail, playing with his grandson, or plotting an adventure with his family that often involves theme parks and wearing a goofy-looking hat with ears.
He is currently working on an article manuscript about Arkansas’s right-to-work law and conducting research for a book project on US labor relations immediately following World War I.
