Exams for Graduation

 MSE in Literacy w/ Dyslexia Endorsement

For graduation, you are required to submit score reports for the following exams. It is suggested you take them at the beginning of your final semester.

• KPEERI — You can take this exam online and your score report will be generated immediately.
  • To register for the test, click here.
  • After you take the test, email Dr. Thompson a copy of your score report at athompson@uca.edu.
• Reading Specialist Praxis Exam — Go to praxis.ets.org/test/5302.html for information about the Praxis 5302: Reading Specialist exam.
  • You must send your scores directly to UCA by following the directions available HERE.
  • Also, email Dr. Thompson a copy of your score report at athompson@uca.edu.
  • Score reports can take 6+ weeks so plan accordingly to have your report to Dr. Thompson prior to graduation.
• Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) — If you will be adding the dyslexia endorsement to an Arkansas teaching license, you will also need to pass a PLT exam. Go to praxis.ets.org/state-requirements/arkansas-tests.html and expand the Instructional Support Personnel section. The dyslexia endorsement information lists the options for the PLT. Choose any one (1) of these options: Praxis 5621, Praxis 5622, Praxis 5623, OR Praxis 5624.
  • You must send your scores directly to UCA by following the directions available HERE.
  • Also, email Dr. Thompson a copy of your score report at athompson@uca.edu.

• Foundations of Reading (890) – Needed ONLY for those who have not completed a pathway.

  • DESE sponsored FoR Exam Tutoring facilitated by Dallas Henderson, DESE RISE Specialist:

    • EPP completers only

    • Failed the 190 or 890 at least once

  • Free After Three:

    • Limited time special: any 890 test taker who fails the 890 from now until Dec 31, 2025, is eligible for a free retake.

    • Free After Three normal policy: any 890 test taker that has failed the 890 at least three times is eligible for free retakes on the fourth and subsequent attempts.

  • Right Start: Right Start is an interactive learning course that is designed to help you prepare for the Foundations of Reading (890) and edTPA tests. A Right Start subscription provides:

  • A diagnostic assessment to evaluate your knowledge and understanding

  • Self-paced learning modules aligned to the content of your test

  • Multiple practice assessment attempts to check your readiness

  • A customized course dashboard to review your results
