The UCA Commitment program is a last dollar scholarship program that covers tuition and fee expenses for eligible students while engaging participants in meaningful service opportunities.
Last Dollar Scholarship
Scholarships will cover the cost of tuition and fees after applying institutional, State and Federal financial aid. UCA Commitment does not cover housing or food charges.
Tuition & Fees
The cost is directly assessed by the university for your academic instruction, coursework and student services. The program does not cover room and board charges; private scholarships may be applied toward those charges, and institutional academic scholarships that specify funds for housing will apply to room and board costs.
Eligible Aid
Aid considered for your last dollar scholarship application includes federal aid such as FAFSA, State aid, including but not limited to the Arkansas Challenge and Governor’s Scholarship, and institutional aid from academic, performance, departmental and athletic scholarships. Private scholarships, such as those from the UCA Foundation, hometown awards, special organizations, private groups and funds specifically designated for housing costs, are not included in the last dollar calculation.
Service Requirements
All participants will fulfill a minimum of ten (10) service hours per semester, engaging in community activities and volunteer work.
Work-Study Opportunities
Participants with greater financial need may receive a combination of scholarship and work-study funds. To receive full funding, they must accept an on-campus job opportunity to cover all tuition and fee expenses. Most students will not receive a work-study position on campus. Less than one-in-three UCA Commitment participants will have a work study component and be placed with a specific job. However, all students can apply for on-campus work opportunities through our Human Resources webpage.
