Professor William Taylor of the department of chemistry recently earned his third three-year award from the National Science Foundation.
The current award ($223,913) “Investigating the Influence of Halogen Ligands on the Ability of Late Gas-Phase Transition Metal Ions to Activate Bonds in Small Substrate Molecules” supports his work from 2016 – 2019.
With this support, Taylor continues his investigations of fundamental reaction dynamics of metal ions with selected molecules. His work will inform the understanding of chemistry relevant to a number of areas – including atmospheric reactions of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances, industrial catalytic processes, and the development of novel metal-based materials.
This support also enables Taylor to continue to provide cutting-edge research experiences for many UCA STEM majors who have benefited greatly from his careful mentorship during his 26+ year tenure at UCA.
