International Engagement is proud to announce that three international students from Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) received outstanding student awards at College of Business Students Honors Banquet. Mariam Karamoko received the Outstanding Finance Major award, N’Golo Ouattara received the Outstanding Economics Major award, while Paukou Kouame received an Axciom Corporation Scholarship at the event. The students were selected by College of Business faculty based on their overall academic performance in each discipline. Among the three students, Mariam Karamoko completed her studies to earn BBA in Finance degree with 3.9 GPA.
As of spring 2016 semester, 79 students were enrolled as international transfer students from partner university International University of Grand Bassam. The number of students from the Ivory Coast is expected to be over 100 in Fall 2016. Jane Ann Williams, Associate Vice President and Head of International Engagement Division, said, “We are very pleased with the remarkable academic performance of our students from Ivory Coast. The ongoing partnership with International University of Grand-Bassam has been a critical component in this achievement. It is a great pleasure to see that our diligent efforts to recruit the very best students from around the world bear fruit not only in academics, but also in social life and in sports.”
Tammy M. Rogers, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance & Department Chair Economics, Finance and Insurance & Risk Management at UCA highlighted the students’ dedication and hard work with these words: “I just wanted to let you know much we enjoy the [international] transfer students who are coming to UCA. Their classroom performance and their attitudes make them a joy to work with every day.”
