AmeriCorps
Welcome to UCA’s national service programs! UCA engages students, graduates, and community members in national service opportunities through AmeriCorps through the BearsServe Leaders Program, founded in 2019.
BearsServe Leaders are current UCA students who commit to serve 450 hours over the course of an academic year and are placed with one of our community partner host sites. BearsServe Leaders are quarter-time AmeriCorps members and provide direct service in education, food insecurity, or financial empowerment. BearsServe Leaders are selected each spring and serve from September 1st to April 30th.
Equal Opportunities to Serve
UCA’s AmeriCorps programs follow UCA’s equal opportunity employment policy when it comes to selection of service members. The University of Central Arkansas is an affirmative action/equal opportunity institution. In keeping with its non-discrimination policy in employment, admissions and other functions and programs, the university considers employees and students on the basis of individual merit without regard to sex, race or color, religion, national origin, age, disability, or other factors irrelevant to participation in its programs. Please visit the website of our Affirmative Action Officer at www.uca.edu/about//affirmative-action for more information. AmeriCorps members must be 17 to serve in AmeriCorps state and national programs, or 18 to serve in AmeriCorps VISTA. Members must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or hold DACA status (VISTA only).
