UCA to host nonprofit board training

UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development is partnering with the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance (ANA) to host The Strategic Board of the Future: Preparing for the Challenges of the Next Five Years. Susan Meier of Meier and Associates will lead this training at UCA’s Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on May 13 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Meier is nationally recognized for her expertise in nonprofit governance and is known for her engaging and lively presentations.

“In today’s nonprofit environment of resource constraints and competition, organizational leaders must learn to better utilize board members’ strengths to keep their organization relevant and viable. This session will equip nonprofit leaders with the necessary strategies to leverage board members’ talents and skills,” says Amy Whitehead, director of UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development.

This session is being offered as part of ANA’s 2014 Trendsetter series. The mission of ANA is to provide resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities to strengthen nonprofits. ANA and UCA have partnered to put on these events since 2013 when Susan Meier presented her first state-wide training in Arkansas.

The mission of the Center for Community and Economic Development is to manage the Community Development Institute, provide support and training to Arkansas communities and development professionals, and represent UCA in its community engagement efforts. The Center is part of the University of Central Arkansas’ Division of Outreach and Community Engagement.
