Benafield was notified of her election in a letter from the President of the ASHA on June 3.
ASHA is a national professional organization for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology with more than 173,070 members and affiliates.
The Audiology Advisory Council is one of the two advisory councils that serve the ASHA by identifying issues of concern to members and providing information on issues to the ASHA Board of Directors. The council is comprised of 54 members that are elected by ASHA members in their state and profession.
Benafield said it would be a bit of work, but it will put her in a nice position to stay abreast of issues on the horizon in her field and network with other professionals from around the country.
Benafield will serve the council from January 1, 2015 until December 31, 2017.
