Grant round-up

Following is a list of grants that recntly have been awarded to UCA faculty:

Dr. Danny Arrigo, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and student Luke Brown received a $2,650 State Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

The grant money will be used to conduct research on the generalized compatibility for the two-dimensional nonlinear diffusion equation. Arrigo said he hopes the results of their research will add to the existing body of knowledge, giving evidence of this new technique of compatibility.

Dr. Stephanie Vanderslice, Writing and Speech, received a $729 grant from the U.S. Department of Education through the National Writing Project Corp. and the National Writing Project of Central Arkansas to conduct a day-long workshop for teachers in the Magnolia School District.

The grant provided continued professional development for teachers as three teacher consultants at the National Writing Project of Central Arkansas gave inservice workshops.

Dr. Keith Atkinson, Dr. Tom Oxner, Danny Vance and Laura Young, College of Business Administration, and Kim Bradford, Academic Outreach and Extended Programs, received a $2,200 grant to provide training for the financial staff at Acxiom Corp.

The group provided the latest instruction on financial statement analysis, revenue recognition, leadership and time management through this informative two-day, custom-designed seminar.

This contract for professional training is an example of UCA?s outreach efforts designed to benefit the business community and thus contribute to the economic development of the region.
