Faculty receive grant to evaluate Hepatitis program

Drs. Jacuqie Rainey, Jane Lammers, from the Department of Health Sciences, and Dr. Lauretta Koenigseder, from the Department of Nursing, were recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control through the Florida Department of Health for the Florida Hepatitis Program Evaluation.

The grant will allow the team to determine the effectiveness of the FHP at delivering services to help protect the population from Hepatitis infection and the consequences of chronic Hepatitis disease.

The grant will help to determine the best practices for delivery of Hepatitis-related services. Florida is one of a few states that provide free Hepatitis vaccination and screening. If the program is deemed successful, other states may develop policies to support Hepatitis prevention.
