ANNUAL SENIOR SHOW BRINGS INSPIRATION TO UCA STUDENTS

New artwork to be installed at UCA’s Baum Gallery

The Baum Gallery will host its Fall BA/BFA Senior Exhibit from Friday, Nov. 3 to Thursday, Dec. 7 on the University of Central Arkansas campus.

An opening reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 from 4-7 p.m. and a weekend reception will be held Sunday, Nov. 19 from 2-4 p.m., at the Baum Gallery, located in McCastlain Hall at the University of Central Arkansas.

During this show, graduating BA/BFA students experience their work being installed in a museum setting. This is an experience that is important to both the students and the UCA Department of Art. “Participating in the senior exhibition provides graduating art students the opportunity to share their work with the public.” Dr. Jeff Young, chair of the Department of Art, said. “The work they exhibit reflects their experiences and the issues they think are important, along with the skills they have developed during their time at UCA. This is a big step in their artistic lives that the art department and the Baum Gallery are proud to be a part of it.”

The Baum Gallery emphasizes student work. The gallery typically shows three exhibitions per semester and at least one of these is focused on students’ work. UCA’s Department of Art and the Baum Gallery are honored to showcase the seniors’ work, installed by them, as part of its mission and tradition.

“Having the students tailor their work and install it at the Baum is a big reason we are here,” Brian Young, director of the Baum Gallery, said. “This artwork showcases tangible evidence of senior BA/BFA students’ knowledge and hardworking efforts throughout their studies.”
