UCA’s history students don’t just sit around memorizing names and dates. Working both in and out of the classroom, they sharpen the skills that today’s – and tomorrow’s – employers need. They critically analyze sources of information. They gather evidence to craft persuasive arguments. They’re flexible and adaptable thinkers who tackle tough problems. They’re communicators. They develop “hard skills” like research and data analysis, and “soft skills” such as leadership and empathy.
Our award-winning professors offer innovative classes that explore ancient Rome, modern America, and everything in between. As a UCA history student, you might find yourself researching and recording a podcast, interviewing local notables, digging deep into archives, exploring online databases, touring foreign countries, or getting hands-on internship experience.
Our faculty goes beyond the classroom to mentor student research, supervise internships, sponsor student presentations, create service-learning opportunities, and organize student/faculty social events.
UCA’s History graduates go on to do incredible things. Our students become attorneys and physicians. They own businesses and innovate at museums, libraries, corporations, public agencies, and archives. They earn graduate degrees at UCLA, UT-Austin, Boston University, and UA-Fayetteville. They shape new generations at schools and universities around the country. Wherever you go, you’ll find our alumni pursuing challenging, fulfilling careers that change the world.
