Academic leaders must wear a number of hats in navigating the various roles they play. Coaching is a distinct leadership role that could benefit many academic leaders in adopting a proactive and appreciative approach to developing those they lead. In contrast to other helping roles, such as counseling, modeling, mentoring, and teaching, coaching leverages the agency of each individual to approach their development in a positive, proactive manner. This session will equip academic leaders to add the coaching approach, process, and skill set to their leadership repertoire.
