BuzzFeed, an American internet media company based in New York City, named the University of Central Arkansas the most beautiful college campus in Arkansas on May 19.

Renovations to Historic Mirror Room Complete

The University of Central Arkansas hosted a grand re-opening for the Mirror Room in McAlister Hall Friday, Aug. 18. The University received a $250,000 grant from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council (ANCRC) to renovate the space.

UCA Alumna Awarded Fulbright Grant for the 2017-18 Academic Year

Madison Sewell ’16 has been awarded a Fulbright U.S Student Program grant for an English Teaching Assistantship for the 2017-18 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

UCA Diversity Leader Named Ace Fellow

The American Council on Education (ACE) announced that Angela Webster, associate vice president for Institutional Diversity and associate professor of Leadership Studies at the University of Central Arkansas has been named an ACE Fellow for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Solar Eclipse Event Held at UCA

More than 1,400 students, employees and members of the Conway community attended the solar eclipse viewing event on the McAlister Hall lawn on Aug. 21, 2017. The event coincided with the new student luncheon picnic, which was served on the lawn.

UCA Athletics Receives $1 Million Planned Gift

The $1 million gift will support two important initiatives: a scholarship for women’s athletics and an endowment fund for maintenance of the UCA Strength and Conditioning Center.

Advancement Exceeds Fundraising Goal

The University of Central Arkansas Division of Advancement raised a total of $6,118,323.17 during the 2016-2017 fiscal year exceeding the goal of $6 million, making this the third-best fundraising year to date.

Seventh Annual Night of Distinction

Night of Distinction is the awards gala honoring past and present recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Alumni Service Award. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships. Distinguished Alumni Award honorees were Charlie Strong ’82 and Herby Branscum ’63. The Alumni Service Award honoree was Sue Voegele ’62.

The Women’s Giving Circle hosted a welcome reception for First Lady Jenny Davis on July 11. Katie Henry ’02 and her mother Kay Hinkle ’70 hosted the reception at Henry’s home.

Up Close with Lencola Sullivan ’79

The words “Go Here, Go Anywhere” really do mean “anywhere” in the case of University of Central Arkansas alumna Lencola Sullivan ’79, who currently lives in The Hague in the Netherlands. Sullivan works as a diversity and inclusion trainer and tax office manager at the Royal Dutch Shell Headquarters.
