Foundation Funds Honor Late Professor, Family

The Howard Groth Vocal Performance Award has been renamed as the Howard and Helen Groth, Cathey Maxey Groth Vocal Performance Award. The late Cathey Groth ’72 and Bill Groth ’74 of Germantown, Tennessee, initially established the fund in 1984 in honor of the late Dr. Howard Groth, a former University of Central Arkansas professor and department chair.

Fiddler Appointed to UCA Board of Trustees

Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced the appointment of Dr. Terry Fiddler ’70 of Conway to the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees in January.

Sculptor Creates Valor II Sculpture on Campus

Sculptor Gary Keenan used chainsaws to carve a white oak tree trunk on the UCA campus into a life-sized bear. The sculpture is located in front of Wingo Hall, welcoming visitors and students to campus.

Today, the University of Central Arkansas senior flourishes in her craft — so much so that she’s been featured in several exhibitions and is a Windgate Foundation Scholar.

Refresh and renew has been the mission of Mike Lloyd ’89 since taking the helm of the University of Central Arkansas Division of Information Technology in January 2018. Lloyd graduated with a bachelor’s in business and minor in finance, giving the Hot Springs native a skill set so well rounded that he was able to serve Acxiom in a number of roles for 30 years prior to joining UCA as interim chief information officer — and eventually being named vice president and CIO.

A professor of interdisciplinary studies in the Norbert O. Schedler Honors College and scholar of religion — she’s got her bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. in the field — Bowman has picked up a curiosity in various subjects over the years.

UCA Athletic Director Doubles as Pilot

When he isn’t serving the University of Central Arkansas as athletic director, Teague can often be found piloting the skies on his way to regional hotspots like Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and even Orlando.

Engaged and Ready

The banner year in fundraising involved multiple milestones, including private scholarships awarded, Day of Giving funds raised and net asset totals. The UCA Foundation’s net assets are $50,461,693, making this the first time net assets have exceeded $50 million. The endowment is $27,877,726.

Camp Horton

As founder and board chairman of D.R. Horton Inc., the Arlington, Texas-based company that has been the largest homebuilder in America since 2002, Horton takes pride in “taking care of our family.” One way he does that is by providing Camp Horton, an annual summer camp for children related to his employees.
