Global Learning Institute

The Center for Global Learning and Engagement offers the Global Learning Institute (GLI) as an annual professional development workshop for faculty and staff in collaboration with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Academic Leadership (CETAL).

The two-day workshop primarily focuses on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). It also includes topics related to education abroad and implementing global learning and SDGs in the curriculum.

Global Learning Fellows

Faculty from all six UCA colleges have completed the GLI since its inception in 2021:

  • College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
  • College of Business
  • College of Education
  • College of Health and Behavioral Sciences
  • College of Science and Engineering
  • Honors College

Faculty who complete the annual GLI are expected to add a COIL project to an existing course. Since spring 2022, 21 UCA faculty have collaborated with international partners from 12 countries on five continents.

Eight Global Learning Fellows have earned the Distinguished COIL Fellow designation for completing two or more COIL projects. A Distinguished COIL Fellow co-created the CETAL Global Learning and Internationalization Reading Group in 2022. The reading group has since evolved into a research group.
