Dr. Bruenger is an associate professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science, finishing his 14th year at UCA. His primary focus is in biomechanics, but has taught a wide array of classes during his tenure. He is currently the graduate program coordinator for the Masters in Exercise Science program.
Dr. Bruenger has been very active in both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He served as the state coordinator for the NSCA for six years as well as president of the Central States chapter of the ACSM (CSACSM) for three years. Dr. Bruenger’s research interests, as well as his personal interests, focus on strength and conditioning and sport coaching.
In his free time, he enjoys watching his son play basketball for Conway Junior High School. Dr. Bruenger was also blessed this January as his daughter Joslyn, a junior at UCA, celebrated her marriage to Nick Hurly. He is now looking for someone to marry his 15-year-old son so he can be an empty nester. He will, however, still continue to learn and tell “dad” jokes to all who will listen.
