With a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and a specialization in Sports Nutrition, Dr. Allman-Tucker focuses on advancing
women’s health through research in metabolic health, maternal exercise, and nutrient interventions. Her work addresses
crucial aspects of exercise physiology and nutrition, with an emphasis on pregnancy, women’s metabolic adaptations, and
lifestyle interventions.

The WELLness Hub Research Group
As the Research Director of the WELLness Hub, Dr. Allman-Tucker leads a dynamic, collaborative environment aimed at
enhancing women’s wellness through research in exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle to foster better health across all stages
of life, with a special focus on pregnancy and maternal health. The WELLness Hub is dedicated to translating findings
into actionable health guidance for the public, with the goal of empowering women to become their “most WELL selves.”

Research Interests
Maternal and Prenatal Exercise: Investigates prenatal exercise’s effects on maternal and infant health, focusing on
metabolic adaptations and glucose control.
Metabolic Health and Sports Nutrition: Studies metabolic responses to exercise and nutrition, emphasizing fat oxidation,
amino acid metabolism, and energy utilization.
Special Populations in Exercise Science: Explores targeted interventions for populations with unique health needs,
including metabolic conditions and women’s health.
