2024 Laurels & Stripes presented by First Security Bank and co-chaired by Lindsay ’03 ’04 and Jon Ross Henderson ’06 was UCA’s biggest night of the year as nearly 450 attendees honored three new Distinguished Alumni, recognized donors who created 25 new scholarships over the last year, and celebrated all of UCA’s many accomplishments including the successful early end of the UCA NOW Campaign with more than $109 million raised.
DR. EMOGENE FOX ’66, ’71
Dr. Emogene Fox ’66, ’71 served UCA from 1980 until retiring in 2021 as a faculty member and chair in the Department of Health Sciences. During her impactful tenure, she was instrumental in establishing partnerships with organizations such as the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, CHI-St. Vincent’s, Conway Regional Medical Center, Baptist Medical Center and more. Currently, she serves on the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences advisory board and continues to be a strong supporter of UCA students through the Emogene Walmsley Fox Health Promotion Scholarship.
LENCOLA SULLIVAN-VERSEVELDT ‘79
Lencola Sullivan-Verseveldt ’79 currently works for Shell in The Hague, the Netherlands, and is a founding member of the Diversity & Inclusion Team, Diversity & Inclusion Focal Point, trainer and faculty member. She has had an amazing career as an accomplished actress, entertainer, businesswoman, and weather anchor for KARK. She was crowned Miss Morrilton in 1977, Miss UCA in 1978, Miss White River in 1979, and in 1980 she became the first African-American Miss Arkansas. In 1981, she became the first African-American contestant to win preliminary awards and to place in the top five of the Miss America Competition. She continues to be an example through her intentional efforts to promote diversity and inclusion nationally and worldwide.
LEROY DANGEAU ‘55
’55 has served many during his illustrious career as owner and operator of Dangeau Auto Parts, Cross County judge, state representative, football coach, high school teacher, and member of the U. S. Army and Reserves. While serving in the state legislature, he was instrumental in increasing funding, which in turn, increased participation in the state’s Pre-K programs. Currently retired, he continues to serve on the selection board for the UCA Athletic Hall of Fame. His dedication to community, educational excellence, diversity and service show his passion for UCA.
