Some Things I Found When I Went for a Walk
Kristen Spickard
To take a walk is to get from point A to point B very s-l-o-w-l-y, but I only see that as a good thing. That it slows you down to a natural human pace is one of walking’s most remarkable qualities, I think. It is such a utilitarian and basic form of transportation, but with many added benefits.
When I slow down to enjoy a walk, I am able to experience a new way of seeing everyday things and connect more with the world around me. I notice the seasons more, the flowers, the leaves, the clouds, the sunlight. I am reminded to breathe, and as I take in the outer world around me, I’m also given a chance to process my inner world more deliberately. These images capture some of the things I’ve discovered on my many walks.
