Lactation Suites

 

The purpose of UCA Lactation Suites is to provide lactating individuals with multiple, convenient, private, sanitary, and comfortable rooms to nurse, express, collect, and/or store breast milk. There is no fee for the use of any UCA Lactation Suite. They are located in the following buildings:

UCA Lactation Suites Flyer and Map

Brewer Hegeman Conference Center

  • To the right of the front entrance
  • Hours are consistent with those of the Conference Center
  • A nearby sink is available in the Student Commons in Stanley Russ Hall Room 107, directly down the hallway

Estes Stadium

  • Room 207, next to the UCA Bookstore
  • Open during home games and events
  • There is no sink within the suite

Integrated Health Sciences Building

  • Room 446
  • A sink is located within the suite
  • Open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during regular business hours

Irby Hall

  • Room 414
  • Check-in at the Political Science Office in Irby 217 to gain entry
  • Open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during regular business hours
  • There is no sink within the suite

  • A nearby sink is available in Room 007 (lounge/behind bi-fold door)

Torreyson Library

  • Check-in at the circulation desk
  • Hours are consistent with those of the library
  • A nearby sink is available; please see the administrator in Room 207 or Room 208

Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts

UCA Lactation Suite Use Guidelines

  1. UCA has established several Lactation Suites to support the needs of individuals who may wish to continue breastfeeding while on campus.
  2. There is no fee for the use of any Lactation Suite.
  3. The Lactation Suites offer several dedicated comfortable, private, quiet spaces for lactating individuals to pump breast milk while on campus. The suites contain comfortable seating, a refrigerator, a microwave, adequate lighting, related reading materials, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies.
  4. The Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center offers two stations with privacy screens. Please use the appropriate privacy signage when you are pumping. When you are finished, remove the sign, and leave the door unlocked.
  5. Users for the Irby Hall location must check in at the Political Science Office, located at Irby Hall 217.
  6. Users for the Lewis Science Center location must check in at the Office of the Dean, located at Lewis Science Center 105.
  7. The Lactation Suite in Old Main offers two stations with privacy curtains. Please leave the door unlocked and use the appropriate privacy signage when you are pumping. When you are finished, remove the sign and leave the door unlocked.
  8. Users for the Torreyson Library location must check in at the Circulation Desk.
  9. It is the responsibility of everyone using the Lactation Suites to maintain a clean room, ready for the next user. Each user must clean all breast milk and other spills with the cleaning supplies provided.
  10. The Lactation Suites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please be considerate of others. Users may have access to the Lactation Suites for approximately one hour per visit.
  11. Lactating individuals must bring their own pump to and from the Lactation Suites on a daily basis. Pumps should not be stored in the suites.
  12. In the event of an urgent situation, disposable breast pads and breast milk storage bags are available. These items are on reserve and should be used only in the event of an extenuating circumstance.
  13. UCA is not responsible for securing personal items left in the Lactation Suites against theft or use by others.
