Nominations Now Open for the Newman Civic Fellowship for Community-Engaged Students

UCA’s campus-wide nomination for the Newman Civic Fellows Award is now open, and students with at least one year of their education remaining are encouraged to apply for this national fellowship program.

The award recognizes community-committed students and focuses on addressing the root causes of social problems. Fellows participate in a year-long virtual cohort and attend an in-person convening, with travel funded by Campus Compact and the UCA President’s Office. Because the fellowship year will be 2026-2027, nominees must have at least one year of education remaining (either here at UCA or at another institution).

UCA’s nomination process includes:
-An initial campus-wide call for nominations
-A request for applications addressing the award criteria from all nominated students
-Review of the applications by the Service-Learning Advisory Committee and current Newman Civic Fellow and recommendation to President Davis
-Official nomination of a fellow by President Davis to Campus Compact

The nomination form is available at https://uca.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/start/271848, is simple to complete, and can be completed by faculty, staff, or students. Nominations close on Friday, March 13th at 11:59 pm.

Spring Break Multi Day Float on the Buffalo River

Descend the Buffalo River canyon. This is a 3 day trip with overnight river side camping. The Buffalo was designated the nations first national river. If you’re looking for wild and scenic beauty, it doesn’t get much better than this.

The Big Event team would like to remind you that The Big Event is coming up on February 28th and we still need volunteers! Volunteers will help complete jobs around the community as a ‘thank you’ to the Conway community for supporting and welcoming UCA students!

This event will last from 8am to 1pm on Saturday, February 28th! Volunteers who complete their service will receive 5 service hours which can be applied to UCA Commitment or other service requirements and all volunteers will receive a free T-Shirt and complimentary snacks at our kickoff ceremony.

If you sign up to volunteer, you will also be entered into a giveaway for various prizes, including the below:

— A $25 gift card to Posie and Co

— A $25 gift card to Mike’s Place

— A $20 gift card to Gibson’s Cat Cafe
