About VISTA

What is AmeriCorps VISTA?

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers IService To America) is one of the three national service programs offered under AmeriCorps, as well as the oldest. Since its opening in 1965, VISTA has focused on eliminating poverty across the country, addressing problems such as inequity, homelessness, and unequal access to education. Unlike AmeriCorps State & National, VISTA is centered around indirect service. Members will work alongside people who share similar visions, and generally aid in creating new programs, writing grants, recruiting volunteers, and more to support the growth of communities across the U.S.

The program offers a modest living allowance based on the income required to cover basic expenses in a community. It is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or graduate students looking to make an impact, gain valuable experience, and earn a modest income.
