Celeste Flowers (M.Ed. in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, Indiana University) is Director of the Intensive English Program as well as Lecturer II. As an undergraduate, she majored in Folklore and minored in Anthropology where she developed a love of different cultures. While working on her degrees, she taught “survival” English to spouses of international students at the university through the Arab Student Association. She was also an English instructor for two years at the Middle East Technical University at the extension campus in Gaziantep, Turkey. She was an instructor in the Intensive English Language Program at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock for ten years before she came to UCA in 2002. Celeste has experience teaching all levels of English language learners from a myriad of language backgrounds. She has taught all skills including grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, pronunciation, and U.S. culture. Furthermore, Celeste has developed curriculum and assessments across all IEP disciplines at UCA as well as her former universities.
