UCA Summer Start - Read for Success

Your first-year at UCA will be exciting, challenging, and, of course, fun! But why not get a jump start on all of this during the summer? UCA Summer Start – Read for Success will help you start ahead of the game, by providing you opportunities to:

• Complete your developmental reading requirement before the fall semester begins
• Prepare you for college-level reading assignments in all of your classes
• Learn about the resources UCA offers to help you succeed
• Meet other students, faculty and staff before Welcome Week even begins
• Move into your residence hall early


Eligibility requirements: To participate, students must
• Be an entering first-year UCA student admitted for Summer or Fall 2014
• Have an ACT Reading subscore of 16-18 or SAT equivalent

Program requirements: In order to participate, students must
• Apply by June 30, 2014 (NOTE: the 2013-2014 FAFSA must be submitted by this date in order to be considered for federal financial aid.)
• Enroll in both UNIV 0361 (Developmental Literacy) and the designated UCA Core Course
• Commit to attending all scheduled class sessions, success workshops, and evening SI hours
• Complete all assignments as assigned by the instructors

**Program scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded by the University to the first 40 registrants, to be applied toward the cost of the program.

Campus housing is available for the duration of the program. Residential participation is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
