Diversity

Value and respect are due all people, regardless of differences in age, gender, faith, economic level, etc. This seminar presents diversity training in a highly interactive, non-threatening self-exploratory manner. The program addresses the value of working in a diverse environment and provides participants the opportunity to discuss both the challenges and rewards in doing so. Seminar content will target a diversity issue, population, or topic. The seminar is provided on an annual basis for the entire UCA population.

If you choose to complete the education course online, please refer to the online vendor, Safe Colleges, on the UCA web browserYour employee ID number will provide the necessary access. The educational course can be taken on any computer with access to the Internet. Each training is divided into sections and although you don’t need to complete the entire course in one sitting, you do need to complete the section you are working on before you leave the course. All online participation will be electronically tracked and recorded in the Offices of Human Resources and University Training.

Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination

UCA requires all employees to be familiar with its Sexual Misconduct Policy. The policy focuses on Sexual Harassment but also addresses general harassment in the workplace. This not only protects the University employees from liability but helps to provide a positive and safe work environment on campus. The seminar defines workplace harassment, provides examples as to what constitutes harassment and identifies the proper steps for employees to take if they feel they are a target of sexual harassment or any other form of harassment. This seminar is provided on an annual basis for the entire UCA population.

University employees have the choice of completing the Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination training seminar on-site or the designated Harassment/Discrimination session online. Title IX

UCA requires all employees to be familiar with Title IX, the Violence against Women Act (VAWA), and the Clery Act. This seminar provides information on Title IX law, UCA policy, and mandatory reporters.

Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention

FERPA

UCA requires all employees to be familiar with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), the Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. You must complete this education course online. Email and Messaging Safety

UCA requires all employees to be educated on computer safety and responsibility. You must complete this education course online. Professional Development Opportunities

Professional Development seminars are offered throughout the year to educate, equip, and encourage employees while they fulfill their professional roles on the UCA campus. The seminars include: Lunch and Learns, Service Excellence, New Staff Orientation, and the Professional Administrative Staff Reception. These voluntary seminars are open to all faculty and staff.
