Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have already signed up for Diversity, Title IX or Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination on-site, can I cancel and complete the online options instead?

Yes. But please email training@uca.edu to cancel your space in the on-site seminar.

Can I come back to my online training if I don’t complete it in one sitting?

Yes. Each training is divided into sections and although you don’t need to complete the entire course in one sitting, you do need to complete the section you are working on before you leave the course. Then when you come back to the course you can continue with the next section.

Who has to complete the trainings and what is required?

All employees of the University, full time and part time faculty, staff, student worker and graduate assistant need to complete the required trainings by the end of the academic year. If you are on the UCA payroll you are expected to complete the required training seminars. The required trainings are: Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination, Title IX, Child Abuse Prevention, Diversity, FERPA, and Email and Messaging Safety.

Your training account access will only be active while you are considered actively employed at UCA.  If you are a part-year employee, such as an adjunct employed during only one semester, you should complete all required online training during the time period you are considered an employee of the University.

Will we have to do this every year?

Yes. There will be a variation of the required trainings but each year employees are asked to be educated on important workplace laws, policies, and behaviors.

How do I access the online trainings?

The company Safe Colleges will send every employee an email with a log in instructions to access their individual training course account. The company will also send monthly email reminders to the employee regarding the required trainings. The emails will stop once all required trainings are completed.

Will I still have the option of attending on-site training seminars?

Yes. Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination, Diversity, and Title IX are provided on-site. There are additional on-site seminars provided as well, such as Lunch and Learns, and Service Excellence.

Do I have to print the completion certificate or send an email to show participation in the online programs?

No. HR and University Training will keep records of participation and completion. We do not require you to send a certificate of completion. HOWEVER– Some supervisors ask their employee to print the certificate to validate seminar completion.

What if I complete the Diversity, Title IX or Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination on-site but my Safe Colleges account displays Diversity, Title IX or Workplace Harassment Prevention/Discrimination as incomplete?

When an employee attends the on-site seminars, the Office of University Training staff records participation and credits the employee for the training on the Safe Colleges site. This process takes 2- 3 days. If you continue to see incomplete records and have attended the on-site training, please email training@uca.edu and we will take care of the discrepancy.

Will I get paid if I complete the training outside of normal working hours?

No. The employee should complete the trainings (on-site and online) during the employee’s shift and normal working hours. For online training, if a computer is not available in that particular department, computers can be accessed in the UCA library. Further questions?
