Summer Start – Math Scholars Program

 A great math review program — and more!

Online orientation: Opens on Friday, August 6th

Move-In: Sunday, August 8th

Program: Monday-Friday, August 9-13, 2021 (9am-4pm)

Not sure you’re ready for college-level math courses?  Think you’re just “not good at math?” Want a quick math review? Would you like to learn more about the UCA campus and the Conway community?  Ready to meet other students and move in early?! 

UCA’s Summer Start – Math Scholars program is a great way to improve your math skills and start ahead of the game. The program will provide you with opportunities to:

  • Learn about the resources UCA offers to help you succeed in all of your classes
  • Meet other students, faculty and staff before Welcome Week even begins
  • Improve your math skills and proficiency
  • Prepare to enroll in college-level math your first semester
  • Move into your residence hall a week early
  • Have fun!

SS junkStudents required to complete developmental math will have the opportunity to test out of this requirement at the end of the Math Scholars Program.

 


Eligibility requirements

To participate, you must:

  • Be an entering first-year UCA student admitted for Summer or Fall 2021
  • Have an ACT Math subscore of 15-21

To be successful in the Math Scholars program, you should:

  • Apply early
  • Attend all components of the program (math lab sessions and success workshops)
  • Complete all assignments as assigned by the instructors
  • Bring a TI-83, TI-84 or TI-nspire calculator

All participants are expected to attend all sessions of the program throughout the week.
