Sponsored Programs’ 2nd Annual External Funding Impact Award

Nominate a Faculty or Staff Member

The External Funding Impact Award was established in 2018 to recognize a faculty or staff member for excellence in obtaining external funding and to recognize the impact of external funding on individuals, the university, the community, and our disciplines and fields of study.

The Sponsored Programs team is currently accepting nominations for the award. The recipient will be announced at the Faculty Convocation and honored at the annual Sponsored Programs Reception next fall.

Nominees must have received grant funding within the last five years. Administrators, faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to submit nominations. You may nominate yourself.

The nomination process is quick and simple. The deadline for nomination is February 15, 2020

Application Process

The application process begins with the nomination of eligible faculty or staff.

After nominations have closed, the award committee chair will invite eligible nominees to submit a complete application portfolio. Application portfolios should be shared with the committee chair by April 1 via Google Drive.

Portfolios should contain the following documentation:

  1.   Current vitae or résumé.
  2.   A list of externally funded activities for the last five years. You may include amounts awarded.
  3.   A statement of no more than 1,000 words describing the impact of the nominee’s external funding  on individuals, the university, the community, and/or on the discipline or field.
  4. Two letters of reference that address the significance and impact of the project activity on individuals, the university, the community, and/or the field.
  5. Other evidence of impact. In addition to the papers and conference presentations noted on the curriculum vitae, other evidence may include:
  • Graphs, charts, or tables
  • Magazine or newspaper articles, screenshots of social media posts
  • Reference list of publications and conferences arising from the project
  • Photos
  • Other documentation if appropriate and available

February 15, 2020:   Nominations Closed, Nominees Invited to Submit Application

April 1, 2020:  Applications due to Committee Chair, Joy Ritchey Reynolds

May 1, 2020:  Recipient Determined

August 2020:  Recipient Announced at Faculty Convocation

September 2020:   Recipient Honored Award at Sponsored Programs Reception.
