Patricia Nunn Brown

Patricia Nunn Brown has spent more than 40 years in economic development efforts at the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission (AIDC), Arkansas Department of Economic Development (ADED) and Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC).  Her commitment, leadership, and passion are evident in the results of her work.

Ms. Brown was appointed Director of the Division in 2007.  She was the first female to lead the division since its creation.  In this capacity, Ms. Brown directs the division’s efforts to enhance the growth of minority business enterprises (MBEs) in the state of Arkansas.  Under Ms. Brown’s leadership, the division has expanded its effort to help MBEs grow and succeed through access to capital, access to contract and access to business opportunities. During the last five years,  the division has assisted minority-owned firms in obtaining more than $185 million in contracts with state agencies, colleges and universities; created the Minority Loan Mobilization Program; enhanced the Minority Certification Program;  and will host the agency’s first Small and Minority Business Matchmaker Conference in September.

A native of Camden, Arkansas, Ms. Brown holds a bachelor’s of art degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock.  She also attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and Southern Arkansas University Tech in East Camden.  She is a graduate of both the Basic Economic Development Institute at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia and the Economic Development Institute University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma.
