The test I need is not listed.  Will it be available?

If your test is not listed, ETS does not plan to offer it as a “test at home” option.

How do I register?

Notice when registration for your test will begin – May 15 or June 1.  Beginning on that day, register for your test just like you would register to take it at a testing center.  At the point in the registration where you would select your testing center, you will choose “Test at Home” instead.

How do I know when I will test at home?

After your registration for ETS/Praxis is complete, you will receive an email from ProctorU that will detail the process for selecting your time for taking the test.  ProctorU offers testing at home from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Midnight Central Time 7 days a week.  You will be given access to their site to choose an available time that is convenient for you.

Aren’t they worried that people will cheat?

ProctorU has proctored more than 5 million exams and employs the most sophisticated technology and artificial intelligence available.  Also, a live proctor will monitor you during your test via your webcam.  Prior to beginning a test, the proctor will complete a security protocol with the test-taker.

Do I actually have to be at home?  What kind of computer will I need?

Before you take your test, you will be given information that describes the acceptable environment and the technology requirements for the test.  You will be able to “test your technology” before your test day to make sure you have what is needed and that it is working.

More information about required technology is available here.

What happens if something messes up while I’m taking my test? Or if I can’t get something to work or need help during the test?

You will have a live person monitoring your test from start to finish just like you would at a testing center.  Alert them just like you would alert the person in your room if you were at a testing center.

You can access the ProctorU Help Center right now.  Go to the site below and select “Test-Taker.”

How much does it cost?

The cost for testing at home is the same cost that you would pay to test in a testing center.

Will the test at home option be available from now on?

At this time ETS does not plan to offer the test at home option beyond the immediate future once testing centers return to 100% operation and capacity.

What about the Foundations of Reading test?

The Foundations of Reading test is not an ETS/Praxis test.  Pearson is currently showing testing available at the Pearson VUE testing center in Little Rock in July.  To check for testing availability for the F.O.R., go to this site.

What if my test is not listed or if I don’t want to test at home?

Check for available seating at the testing centers in the area. Currently, the Little Rock Prometric Testing Center shows availability in July. The UCA Testing Center also plans to resume testing in July.
