State Contest

Virtual Contest in 2021

In light of Arkansas Health Department directives and the guidelines of our host institution, the University of Central Arkansas, we will be holding a virtual 2021 State Contest for National History Day Arkansas.  It will be a real contest but it will take place entirely online in an asynchronous format. Students will upload their entries through an online contest system, much the same way that Website and Historical Paper entrants have done for years. After the posting deadline, Friday April 2, the entries will go to the respective category judges to be evaluated.

Going virtual creates two significant departures from normal contest years: judges will not meet students in-person and judges will meet virtually to come to a consensus over the ranking of entries.  For the state contest, we are working on plans to create an opportunity for judges to interview student participants using a virtual format.  We will also have a virtual awards ceremony.  Please check back to this web page for updates!
