Dr. Sheri Cook-Cunningham is the Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Central Arkansas. She earned her Ph.D. in Choral Pedagogy from The University of Kansas. She holds degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (B.M. and M.M., Piano Performance) and received her teaching license from Avila University. She has taught General Music, grades Kindergarten-5, Junior High Music, and High School Choral Music. Sheri was a TEXT Mentor for Avila University’s music education program and was an Adjunct Instructor there, teaching Secondary Choral Methods. She is a member of NAfME and ACDA.
      Dr. Cook-Cunningham teaches Choral Methods and Introduction to Research, supervises student internships, and directs the University Choir. She also is the director of VOCA, Voices of Central Arkansas. Sheri’s research interests include adolescent voices, hearing dosage and hearing conservation in choral settings, and historical choral diction practices. She has been published in the International Journal of Research in Choral Singing. Refereed research presentations to date include the Eighth International Phenomenon of Singing Symposium, the 2012 Biennial Music Educators National Conference on the Physiology and Acoustics of Singing, and the Ninth International Phenomenon of Singing Symposium.
