Percussionist and El Paso, TX native, Mariana Aun, began formal percussion studies at the age of 16. From Arkansas to Africa, her education and musical experiences span four continents and she is an extremely versatile musician; equally at home in a wide variety of solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. Her principal teachers include: Professor Larry White, Peter Evans, Simone Rebello, Liz Gilliver, Ian Wright, Dave Hassell, Paul Patrick, and, currently, Dr. Black Tyson. In addition, Ms. Aun also studied with Jonathan Haas at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2009, Leigh Howard Stevens in the summer of 2012 at the 33rd Annual Leigh Howard Stevens Summer Marimba Seminar in Ocean Grove, NJ, and Emmanuel Sejourne in the 53rd Weimar Masterlasses in Weimar, Germany. She has also performed in masterclasses for artists such as Nebjosa Jovan Zivkovic, Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Mark Ford. For the 2011-2012 academic year, she was also selected to participate in the Halle Orchestra Higher Education Professional Experience Scheme.

Ms. Aun holds Bachelor of Music degrees from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in Commercial Music and Music Performance in 2010. Both were awarded summa cum laude and she was selected as The Outstanding Graduating Senior in Performance by the UTEP faculty for her graduating class. In 2012, she completed a Master of Music in Solo Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England and a Graduate Certificate in Music Performance at the University of Central Arkansas in 2014.

Ms. Aun is a member of various ensembles including: Duo Beaux Bois (Violin & Marimba), the Vulgar Display Contemporary Music Ensemble (a group dedicated to linking classical and heavy metal genres through original compositions), and The Auden Quartet (Piano & Percussion) who were awarded the Cross School Prize in Chamber Music at the RNCM in 2012. Ms. Aun is also an active freelance musician, currently performing with various regional orchestras and choral organizations throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas.

Along with freelance performance and teaching, Ms. Aun is currently an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Central Arkansas and a faculty member in both Music Theory and Percussion at the University of Central Arkansas Community School of Music in Conway, AR. She also serves as a North American Ambassador for her alma mater, the Royal Northern College of Music, and is the newly appointed Hendrix College Pep Band Drumline Instructor.
