BBA – MIS MAJOR

CORE MIS COURSES:

MIS 3328 Systems Analysis and Design
MIS 3363 Telecommunications and Computer Networks I

CONCENTRATIONS (must select one):

1. Telecommunications and Computer Networking Concentration

  • MIS 3300 Introduction to Computer Programming
  • One programming course (MIS 3301 COBOL, MIS 3335 Programming in Scripting Languages, MIS 3339 Java I, MIS 3362 Visual Basic, or MIS 4339 Java II)
  • MIS 4363 Telecommunications and Computer Networks II
  • One elective (upper division MIS or QMTH course)

2.  Application Development Concentration

This concentration is a computer software one that consists of three tracks, one of which must be selected. All three of these tracks require one programming course:

  • One programming course (MIS 3301 COBOL, MIS 3335 Programming in Scripting Languages, MIS 3339 Java I, MIS 3362 Visual Basic, or MIS 4339 Java II)

A. E-Commerce Track

  • MIS 3366 Web Site Development
  • MIS 4366 Advanced Web Site Development
  • One elective (upper division MIS or QMTH course)

B. Programmer/Analyst Track

  • MIS 4329 Database Management Systems
  • One additional programming course (from the five above or CSCI 1470 Computer Science I)
  • One elective (upper division MIS or QMTH course)

C. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Track

  • GEOG 2475 Cartography
  • GEOG 3303 GIS Systems
  • GEOG 3307 GIS in Practice or GEOG 4330 GIS Analysis

3. Business Analysis Concentration

  • One of the following programming courses (MIS 3300 Inroduction to Computer Programming, MIS 3301 COBOL, MIS 3335 Programming in Scripting Languages, MIS 3339 Java I, or MIS 3362 Visual Basic)
  • Two of the following courses:
    MIS 3343 Advanced Spreadsheet Applications

BS – INFORMATION SYSTEMS MAJOR

The BS-IS degree requires the University Core courses (general education) as does any major at UCA. It does not require the complete Business Foundation and Business Core requirement that the BBA degrees require. Like the MIS degree, up to 12 hours of the University Core will count as required business courses. This degree requires a minor in Computer Science. The following courses comprise the degree:
