Before speaking with a school district about employment under a provisional license, you do want to obtain a personalized license letter from the MAT office to verify your eligibility as well as a signed provisional license letter to present to the superintendent or principal.

Parental Involvement Training

The Arkansas Department of Education now requires all applicants for an Arkansas teaching license to complete training on parental involvement. To access this training, go to http://ideas.aetn.org/ and click on "Pre-licensed Educators" to register for the training. NOTE:  Upon completing the training, print the certificate as evidence of your completion.

You need to report to the MAT office that you have completed TWO (2) clock hours of parental involvement training. When you go to the link in AETN IDEAS, you will see you have 5-6 "classes" to choose from. Select the one aligned with your intended licensure level. Completion of that class will earn you1-1.5 clock hours. You will need to complete a second "class" to reach the required 2 clock hours. We recommend you complete the 2nd class in the grade band closest to your own grade band. For example, if you are seeking secondary licensure and have completed the secondary parental involvement class, then you will also need to complete the middle level parental involvement class to reach the 2 hour requirement. You will need to provide the MAT office with both certificates.
