UCA Library’s COVID-19 Service Updates

In-Person Service

Fall Semester Hours*
Monday through Thursday: 7:00 am – 9:00 pm
Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: CLOSED
Sunday: 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm

*Hours are subject to change based on COVID-19 concerns and UCA policies. Holiday hours and closings can be found on the Library Hours webpage.

In-Person Service Changes

  • ONLY current UCA students, faculty, and staff have access to in-person library services.
  • Face coverings are REQUIRED in the library at all times, per UCA campus policy. If you have a documented exception, please speak to the reference desk about how we can help you.
  • No outside food is allowed in the library. Covered drinks can be consumed while maintaining good mask etiquette.
  • In accordance with social distancing guidelines, study space and computer access has been reduced and group study rooms have been closed.
  • Masks are required in single-occupancy study rooms.
  • Microforms and Archives are available by appointment only.

Library Monitoring Dashboard

The Library Monitoring Dashboard provides daily and long-term insight to high-risk behaviors occurring in the library. Multiple times a day, library employees visually survey the building and count behaviors in three categories: patrons with masks removed for any reason, patrons gathered in a group of 3 or more, and the presence of food and/or drink regardless of the mask status of the patron. The official collection times are 10am, 1pm, and 4pm. However, library employees additionally record behaviors any time they see them occurring. The information in this dashboard is meant to provide patrons with a way to assess their risk when visiting the library. It does not provide a precise picture of high-risk behaviors occurring at any given moment, nor is it meant to admonish any visitor to the library.

Service Updates

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is currently processing requests for both electronic and physical items. Due to other library closures and mail service delays, access to resources through interlibrary loan may be limited or delayed. Physical items will be provided through our no-contact pickup service.

Library Computers and Laptops

To meet social distancing guidelines, the number of desktop computers in the library have been reduced. Computers are first come, first serve and only one person per computer. Food and drink are not allowed and a mask must be worn at all times. Laptops can be checked out from the Circulation Desk for two hours and must remain in the library. Laptops should be returned to the Computer Support desk.

Library Instruction

Library instruction classes can be delivered synchronously via Blackboard Collaborate and asynchronously via other video/screen capture options, depending on the needs and preferences of faculty. Please reach out to Amber Wilson (amberc@uca.edu) to make arrangements for your class.

No-Contact Pickup

Most of the library’s physical resources are available to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff through no-contact pickup services. The items available for this service include books, DVDs, musical scores, etc.  Detailed information and instructions on how to use this service can be found on the library FAQs page.

Please Note: No-contact pickup is not available for textbooks and reserve items.

Off-Campus Access

Most of the library’s online resources are available off-campus. Make sure you know your MyUCA username and password and have your security questions set in case you need to reset your password. In the library, printing can be done through the library laptops, desktops, and designated printing kiosks. Patrons can also complete a Printing Request and files will be provided through no-contact delivery. Full instructions and needed forms are available at Library Printing Services

Returning Library Items

All items, except for textbooks, course reserves, calculators, and laptops, should be returned in our outdoor book return, which is located at the front library entrance. Due to quarantine procedures, please allow 48 hours before returned items are reflected on your account.

Scanning Services

Content from our physical resources can be scanned and delivered electronically. Available content must meet copyright guidelines and does not include content from our textbook collection. For more information and instructions, please see: How do I submit a scanning request?


The library textbooks collection is available for use in the library. Textbooks are not cleaned or quarantined between use and should be used with caution. Also, textbooks are not available through our scanning or no-contact pickup services. To determine if your textbook is available, please search by textbook title in OneSearch.
