Service Updates

Due Dates and Account Flags

All items currently checked out have been updated in our system to reflect a new due date of September 1, 2020.If you have an account flag, please contact us through the Ask Us form for assistance. Please note: Interlibrary loan items and laptops are not affected. Please check your email for further directions and/or updated due dates for these items.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is currently processing requests for both electronic and physical items. Due to other library closures and mail service delays, access to resources through interlibrary loan may be limited or delayed. Physical items will be provided through our no-contact pickup service.

The library has a very small number of laptops available for any remaining students who do not have a computer, and who need one to complete their studies. To request a laptop, complete the Technology Equipment Loan Request, and you will be contacted via email to discuss availability and provide instructions for pickup. Laptops are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Library Collections

The library has a wide range of online resources, ebooks, and article databases. These can be accessed either through OneSearch or  our A – Z Databases page.

Most of the library’s physical resources are available to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff through our scanning and no-contact pickup services. The items available include books, DVDs, musical scores, etc.  Detailed information and instructions on these services can be found on the library FAQs pagePlease Note: Pickup service is not available for textbooks and reserve items.

Library Instruction

Library instruction classes can be delivered synchronously via Blackboard Collaborate and asynchronously via other video/screen capture options, depending on the needs and preferences of faculty. Please reach out to Amber Wilson (amberc@uca.edu) to make arrangements for your class.

Off-Campus Access

Most of the library’s online resources are available off-campus. Make sure you know your MyUCA username and password and have your security questions set in case you need to reset your password. See How do I access library resources off-campus? on the library’s FAQ page for instructions and troubleshooting tips.

Open Resources

The library created an Open Resource Access During COVID-19 guide with a list of Publisher/Vendor support for access to e-resources in response to COVID-19 and will continue to update the list with any new information.

Files can be sent to the library for printing and provided through no-contact delivery. The printing service is available Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. Turnaround time for print request is 2 hours and any request made after 5:00 pm will not be available until the next day. Full instructions and needed forms are available at Submit Your Printing Request.

Returning Library Items

We encourage you to hold onto your items until the library reopens. If you need to return them sooner than the September due date, library books, DVDs, and audio books can be returned in our outdoor book return, which is located at the front library entrance.

The majority of our textbook collection is not available with the library closed. Some textbooks are available in ebook format and can be found by searching OneSearch. Other textbooks titles have temporarily been made freely available in digital formats by publishers. You can search for these textbooks titles by going to our Open Resource Access During COVID-19 guide. If neither of these options work, visit our Ask Us page where you can contact us via email or question form and we will investigate other options.
