January 9, 2015: Silt fences are installed to prevent sediment from running into the stream.
January 14, 2015:
Construction begins and slopes are cleared.
January 16, 2015:
Rock weirs are placed in the stream to slow the flow and create habitat heterogeneity for stream biota.
January 19, 2015:
Soil is brought in to reduce the slope of the banks and prevent erosion.
January 23, 2015:
Pipes draining water from the parking lot will be cut to the bank to allow water more time to percolate into the ground.
January 26, 2015:
Boulders are placed in streams at specific spots to divert flow and create habitat heterogeneity.
January 28, 2015:
Gravel beach areas are placed along the stream to slow runoff and filter out contaminants.
January 30, 2015:
Super soil, a highly organic soil, is placed on the banks to help young plants successfully grow.
February 2, 2015:
Super soil is added to both banks and they are ready for plants!
February 6, 2015:
Grass seed is laid downstream and Zoysia sod grass is placed on the banks near the parking lot and sidewalk.
February 8, 2015:
A gravel lined ditch from the parking lot is added to slow storm runoff and allow pollutants to stick to the gravel.
