Blackboard: Deploying a test

Once you have created a test in Blackboard, you may deploy it by adding it to the content area of your course.

  1. In the Content area, in the Assessments drop-down menu, click Test.
  2. assessments-test

  3. Select the existing test you’ve created from the list shown. With the test selected, click Submit. This will take you to the Test Options page.
  4. NOTE: If you have not created the test yet, click Create, and then proceed with the process of creating a test.
  5. In the Test Information area, rename the test if desired.
  6. Enter a description in the Content Link Description field.

  12. To allow students to take the test more than once, select the check box Multiple Attempts. To allow students to take the test as many times as they like, select Allow Unlimited Attempts. To allow students to take the test a certain number of times, select Number of Attempts and then enter a number of attempts to be allowed.

  14. If you have enabled Multiple Attempts above, select the desired grading option from the Score attempts using drop-down menu.
  15. To make sure students complete the test in one sitting only, select the check box Force Completion.
  16. To set a time limit for the test, select the check box Set Timer. Enter the number of minutes you wish to allow for the test in the Minutes field. For the Auto-Submit option, choose OFF to allow students to continue the test after the time limit expires, or choose ON to save and submit the test automatically when the time limit expires.

  18. To allow the test to be available for a date/time period, select the check boxes Display After and Display Until, and then enter the dates and times for the test to be available.
  19. TIP: To make a test available until the end of a day, enter 11:59 PM in the Display Until field. Entering 12:00 AM can cause the test to become unavailable an entire day sooner than you intended.

  20. If desired, set a Due Date for the test. This is different than the Test Availability dates; you can choose to set a due date for a test, but also accept test scores after that date and mark them as “late.”
  21. TIP: To make a test’s due date/time the end of a day, enter 11:59 PM in the Due Date field. Entering 12:00 AM can cause the test’s due date to be an entire day sooner than you intended.

  26. When finished, click Submit.
