“Dr. Jeffrey’s presentation proposal was accepted for the 42nd annual conference for APA Division 39: Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology in New York, NY. In the presentation, Dr. Jeffrey will present a dynamic analysis of white cultural behavior patterns in response to social progress during COVID-19.
Also, on 1/19/23, Dr. Christina Jeffrey served as an invited member of a graduate panel discussion in the School of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University entitled “How to Effectively Mentor Graduate Students for Successful Roles in Academia”, presented alongside Dr. Charles Ridley, Dr. Christine Stanley, and Dr. Julie Harlin. ”

Spring 2023 20-Day Writing Challenge
The 20-Day Writing Challenge is meant to motivate faculty to commit a block of time each weekday during the month of February for grant and/or academic writing. There will be an in-person introductory session on Wednesday, February 1, where participants will establish individualized goals and intentions. The 20-Day Writing Challenge will wrap up with a final in-person sharing/reflection session where participants will gather and be encouraged by each others’ success on Wednesday, March 1. Sponsored by CETAL and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

Designated School Official and IRB
Kimberly Ashley-Pauley, Research Compliance Officer, and Amber Hall, Director of Institutional Research, will explain what it means to be a designated school official. They will also discuss the process to become a designated school official, as well as why it is sometimes necessary to have this designation in order to conduct research using data that would otherwise be inaccessible under FERPA.

In the spring of 2018, at the May 1st meeting of the UCA Core Council, the Council voted unanimously to place a moratorium on all additions to the Lower Division (LD) of the UCA Core and begin a four-year review of all courses in the Lower Division Core. Over the next four years, the Assessment subcommittee of the UCA Core reviewed every course in the LD Core to assure it aligned well to the learning outcomes of the competency area under which it was placed. The review process was laborious and over four years faculty from the UCA Core Council diligently worked to review course materials, facilitate conversations with programs, and assure that all UCA students received a meaningful, comprehensive general education.

Griffin Planetarium shows this weekend Friday January 27 and Saturday January 28 at 7:00pm: The one-hour shows this week include a tour of the current sky and the full-dome movie “River of Bears”. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Building doors open at 6:30 pm. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating is limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.

Faculty who aspire to strengthen the quality of teaching may qualify for a faculty development grant up to $500.
The CETAL Faculty Development Grant program is provided to support faculty development activities related to enhancing teaching effectiveness and/or developing curriculum. Acceptable activities or meetings may focus on instructional design, content, or pedagogy.
In addition to funding off-campus activities, FDG money can also be used to fund relevant online professional development in teaching as well as bring speakers to campus to engage in professional development for a group of faculty. For specific details on eligible activities, please review the CETAL faculty development grants webpage.
Applications for consideration must be submitted by Monday, January 30.
