BS in Health Sciences – Gerontology

For the first time in history, we have more older people than ever before. There is an estimated 77 million people who are 60 years or older. By 2029, the baby boomer population will all be 65 and older. We are now living the aging phenomena.Gerontology is the study of the social, cultural, psychological, cognitive, and biological aspects of aging. Professionals in this field typically study and find ways to treat physical, mental, emotional, and social problems related to aging. Students who pursue a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with an emphasis in Gerontology are prepared to work with the aging population in various settings such as home health agencies, community centers, nursing homes, assisted living, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and other public and private agencies.

General Education Requirements  (47 hours). See the UCA Undergraduate Bulletin. Student must take PSYC 1300 & SOC 1300 as 6 hours of Social Sciences.
