Amigo Fest

Amigo Fest

Group of UCA students at Amigo Fest 2019

Amigo Fest celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month at UCA, which gives our Hispanic students, faculty and staff a sense of belonging. The Office of Diversity and Community is delighted to have the opportunity to share critical Hispanic culture elements with the central Arkansas community to engage with and learn from. Previous years, the Amigo Fest included free health screenings, a children’s area with bouncy houses, a balloon artist and more, as well as authentic Mexican and Venezuelan food for purchase. there is also live entertainment such as a mariachi band, salsa dancers and folkloric dancers and performers. To volunteer for Amigo Fest, contact Maria Negrete Padron at mnegretepadron1@uca.edu

In 2022, we will host Amigo Fest on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is a community-wide event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at UCA.

Amigo Fest

Amigo Fest is the largest program through the Latino/Hispanic Outreach Initiative, a program within the Office of Diversity and Community. It was created in Fall 2013 to develop programs and services that will increase university access and success for Latino/Hispanic students and provide support for a greater percentage of Latino/Hispanic students to attend UCA and graduate.

This initiative exists to support the Latino/Hispanic community of UCA and has the potential of serving over 500 students. In addition, the intention of this program is to educate the general student population and faculty about the Latino/Hispanic culture and traditions through programs and events such as music concerts, food, dances, keynote speakers, comedy, and other activities.
