Kayla Gowin, LAC joined the counseling center staff in the fall of 2017. She is a proud alumna of UCA, having obtained both her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University. Kayla has a passion for establishing connections and building relationships with students and faculty here on campus. She is actively involved in campus outreach, mental health advocacy, university psychoeducation, and is a part-time faculty member in the Psychology department. Kayla has previous clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families in both outpatient and school-based settings. She currently enjoys working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, sexual orientation/identity issues, and members of the LGBTQ community. She utilizes person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches in meeting clients right where they are, helping them to recognize their value and self-worth, and empowering them to maximize their own potential in taking charge of their mental health.
