Shanghai Business Field Trip, Summer 2019

Program Description

Shanghai Business Field Trip provides students an opportunity to live in the heart of Shanghai for a 3-weeks interdisciplinary program in International Business and Finance. Students will attend lectures, participate in team projects with Chinese students from East China Normal University (ECNU), visit American companies in Shanghai and surrounding cities. Students can obtain 3-6 hours of credit from UCA.


Course Offerings

A. Doing Business in China, CRN 35149, MKTG 4320 (3 credit hours)

B. Financial Markets in China, CRN 35148, FINA 4V90, (3 credit hours)

C. Business Chinese Certificate Class, (5 classes from Mar. 13th to April 17th), optional. More class information is available here.

Students need to get approval from the faculty leader(s) and the department secretary for course enrollment.

Important Dates

Application Deadline:  Feb. 22nd, 2019

Visa Application:  Mar. 8th, 2019

  • Submit actual passport
  • Submit Chinese visa application related documents

Step 1) Complete Online Application

Step 2) Course Approval Form

Bring the Course Approval Form with the signature of your course’s faculty leader(s) to UCA Confucius Institute to complete application paperwork.

A. Doing Business in China, CRN 35149, MKTG 4320 (3 hours of credit)

B. Financial Markets in China, CRN 35148, FINA 4V90, (3 hours of credit)

C. Business Chinese, (5 classes from Mar. 4th to May 3rd), optional. There are 2 classes on Basic Conversational Chinese, 2 classes on Business Chinese and Culture, and 1 class on Life in Shanghai. The class cost is $50 for each student.


Step 3) Pay the $500 deposit

Your check of $500 deposit needs to be submit to UCA Confucius Institute at McCastlain Hall 108.

Make your check payable to UCA Confucius Institute.


Step 4) Complete Paperwork (due date is Feb. 22nd, Friday, 2019)

  3.   Copy of Passport (Please submit the copy of newly issued passport as soon as possible.)
  4.   Copy of BearCard
  5.   Course Approval Sheet with faculty signature click here
  6.   Signed Paperwork from Study Abroad (to be filled at Confucius Institute)
  7.   Photo Release Form (to be filled at Confucius Institute)
  8.   Cancellation Policy & Withdrawal Form (provided by Confucius Institute)

Step 5) Complete Visa Application (due date is Mar. 8th, Friday, 2019)

  2.    2″ x 2″ picture
  3.    Visa Application (Need to be typed and signed) click here
  4.    Copy of Passport
  5.    Copy of Driver’s License
  6.    Old Chinese Visa copy if you have ever been granted a Chinese Visa before
