At UCA, employees who wish to participate in the BeWell Program are asked to submit a biometric screening and complete a Health Risk Assessment survey to receive the medical insurance premium discount. If you submit these two activities prior to October 31, 2019, you are eligible for a $20/month discount. If you submit these activities and score at least a 75/100 or improve by 5+ points from last year, you can earn $30/month discount. How Can I Improve My Score For The Next Biometric Screening?

Biometrics can be improved at any age through healthy lifestyle changes. Most areas can improve by increasing your daily physical activity and healthy eating habits.

Improve Cholesterol (Up to 20 Points):

  • Reduce consumption of sugars, white flours, trans fats, and processed or fried foods.
  • Increase protein and vegetable intake.

Improve BMI (Up to 16 Points):

  • Be aware of proper portion sizes and take your time when eating.
  • Increase physical activity to include resistance training.

Reduce Fasting Glucose: Diabetic Risk (Up to 20 Points):

  • Don’t skip meals.
  • Include healthy fats, proteins, and vegetables into your diet to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
  • Reduce or avoid sugary beverages and processed carbohydrates.

Improve Blood Pressure (Up to 20 Points):

  • Maintain a healthy diet and regular physical activity.
  • Implement healthy ways to manage stress.

Quit Nicotine Use (Up to 20 Points):

  • Improve blood pressure, glucose levels, and overall heart health.
  • Increase levels of HDL (good) cholesterol.
