For many of our students, the learning environment here at ArCA is different and more challenging than anything they’ve experienced before. Learning and writing code for eight or more hours a day can be tough.
For our current cohorts, there was an even bigger adjustment.
Early this year, we were beginning to slowly incorporate some online elements into our courses, which had previously been taught exclusively in the classroom. Little did we know those tools would soon become the classroom!
Last month, our students, staff, instructors and other members of our network had to make a quick pivot when all of our classes moved online. With this shift, everything from instruction, Career Support and even Demo Day changed to something we’d never experienced before.
During this time of such big change, we’ve been so impressed by the resiliency of our students and instructors as they’ve come up with new and innovative ways to deliver and experience course content. We have always focused heavily on live instruction within our four walls. Now, we’re quickly learning to adapt and adjust to being able to invest more of our time, energy and resources into the realm of distance learning.
Our students are prioritizers, problem-solvers and encouragers. While our staff and instructors have been in the front row of their cheering section, they’re still the ones driving down their own roads, and they’re doing it well. We’ve always valued getting to spend this time with our students in person, and we will. For now, though, we’re just going with the flow of traffic and adapting to this new normal.
As we begin to wind down another full-time class and keep moving forward with our two part-time cohorts, we hope to use these learning opportunities in the future to help create a more flexible environment for our students and continue our mission of helping them gain meaningful employment in the IT industry here in Arkansas.
If you’re interested in learning more about our programs but are nervous about the logistics, give us a call. We’re pretty flexible, and we’ve love to chat about the options. Take care of yourselves, ArCA blog readers!
